Open and edit Excel spreadsheets in your browser

Spreadsheet editor in your browser: open XLSX and CSV files, use formulas like SUM and IF, sort, filter, make charts and practice Excel with graded exercises.

Open .xlsx or .csv files, or start a new sheet. Edit cells, use common formulas like SUM and IF, sort, filter, format and download as XLSX or CSV. The file is processed on your device. Open several spreadsheets in tabs, use Fórmula Fácil in a tab alongside and practise with exercises checked on the spot. Simple charts stay in the file; macros and pivot tables are not edited and may not be kept: a notice shows when you open the file.

Free plan with a Google account. Works in the browser on computer, tablet and phone.

Frequently asked questions

How do I open, edit and save a spreadsheet in Excel Studio?

Open an .xlsx, .xlsm or .csv file up to 20 MB (Open button) or tap New. Tools sit in a tabbed ribbon like Excel: File (new, open, download XLSX/CSV, share, print), Home (paste, cut, copy, font size, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, colors, borders, alignment, wrap text, number format, decimals, AutoSum, clear, insert and delete rows or columns), Insert (rows, columns, sheet, function, chart), Formulas, Data (sort, filter, remove duplicates) and View (freeze panes, gridlines, show formulas, zoom). Tap the active tab or the arrow to collapse the ribbon and gain space. When you select several cells, the bottom bar shows average, count and sum. In Download, pick XLSX (all sheets) or CSV (current sheet only, without formulas or formatting).

Can I open several spreadsheets and use Fórmula Fácil at the same time?

Yes. In Excel Studio each spreadsheet opens in a tab; the + button opens or creates another. Next to them are the Fórmula Fácil and Exercises tabs, so you can ask for a formula and go back to your sheet without opening another browser window. Closing a tab discards changes you have not downloaded. How many spreadsheets can be open at once depends on your plan.

How do the Excel exercises work?

In the Exercises tab pick a topic (basics, logic, look up and sum, text or mixed) and a level. A sheet with data and tasks is created: type a formula in each yellow cell and tap Check. Each task shows a hint with the function to use, and you can show the solutions. The exercise can open as a new spreadsheet or be added as a sheet to the spreadsheet you already have open.

What are the Excel Studio limits on the free plan?

The free plan limits how many spreadsheets can be open at once, how many downloads or shares you can make and the minutes of use with a spreadsheet open. The green badge at the top of Excel Studio shows what you still have. When the time runs out, the sheet becomes read-only until the time renews. Fórmula Fácil inside Excel Studio uses its own time, as on its own page.

Which formulas does Excel Studio calculate and how do I find one?

About 60 functions, including SUM, AVERAGE, IF, IFS, IFERROR, COUNTIF, COUNTIFS, SUMIF, SUMIFS, AVERAGEIFS, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX, MATCH, SUMPRODUCT, MEDIAN, ROUND, DATE, YEAR, MONTH, DAY, WEEKDAY, NETWORKDAYS, SUBSTITUTE, TEXTJOIN, LEFT, RIGHT and TODAY. Tap fx next to the content bar, or Formulas > Insert function, to search by name or description, browse by category and read how to write each one; Insert puts the function in the cell. While you type, the function's syntax shows under the bar. AutoSum (or Alt+=) totals the column above or the row to the left; its menu also has average, count, max and min. You can type in English, Portuguese or Spanish, with , or ; between arguments. If the file uses a function we do not calculate yet, we show the last result saved by Excel.

How do I find and replace, drag to fill and merge cells in Excel Studio?

Find and replace: Home > magnifier, or Ctrl+F (find) and Ctrl+H (replace). You can match case, require the entire cell and look in values or formulas; Replace all can be undone with Undo. Drag to fill: drag the small square at the corner of the selection down, up or sideways. Series continue (1, 2 → 3, 4; Jan → Feb; Monday → Tuesday; Item 1 → Item 2; dates by day or month); everything else is copied and formulas adjust like a copy. A single number is copied, as in Excel. Double-click the square to fill down to the end of the data in the column beside it. Merge: select the cells and use Home > Merge (Merge & center, Merge across, Merge cells or Unmerge cells). Only the upper-left value is kept (a notice asks first) and the merge is saved in the XLSX.

How do I use conditional formatting and option lists (validation) in Excel Studio?

Conditional formatting: select the cells and use Home > highlighter. You can highlight values greater than, less than, between two values or equal to a value, text containing a word, duplicate values, the highest or lowest values, above or below average, or show data bars and a color scale. Manage rules lists and removes the sheet's rules; you can also clear the rules of the selection or of the whole sheet. Rules are saved in the XLSX; rules from a file that the tool cannot show (for example, formula-based ones) are kept but not displayed in the grid. Option lists: select the cells and use Data > Data validation. Type the options separated by ; (Paid; Pending) or a range such as =D1:D5. Those cells show an arrow to pick an option (or Alt+↓), and other typed values are refused. Validation is also saved in the XLSX.

How do I use comments, charts in the sheet and touch selection in Excel Studio?

Comments: select the cell and use Insert > Comment (or Shift+F2). The cell gets a red triangle in the corner and the text shows when you select it; to edit or delete, open the comment again. Comments are saved in the XLSX and the ones already in the file are shown. Chart in the sheet: select the data, use Insert > Chart and tap Insert in sheet. The chart follows the values, can be dragged, change type (column, bar, line or pie) and get a title with a double-click; Delete or the bin button removes it. It is saved in the XLSX as an Excel chart. On a phone or tablet, touch and hold a cell, then drag your finger to select several.
